(1911-1977)  Born in Union County.  The singer and harmonica player wore a wooden leg as the result of an accident involving a train in 1930.  He spent much of his adult life riding the rails and performing with the medicine shows that traveled throughout the South in the late 19th century into the mid-20th century.
