(1896 - 1959) Hailing from Lancaster, SC, Elliott White Springs was a South Carolina businessman and an American flying ace of World War I. He is credited with shooting down 16 enemy aircraft and owning Springs Cotton Mills, a very profitable textile mill company in the upcountry.
