Orville Vernon Burton

(1947 -) Dr. Burton is a historian, educator, and author from Ninety-Six, South Carolina. He is a professor of history at Clemson University and the Director of the Clemson CyberInstitute. He formerly served as the Director of the Institute for Computing in Humanities, Arts, and Social Science. He was also a professor of History and Sociology at the University of Illinois. A prolific author, his most recent work, Justice Deferred: Race and the Supreme Court, examines racial injustice surrounding Supreme Court Cases.
