The study of the Battle of Honey Hill will allow students to gain knowledge of a significant military battle that took place in Ridgeland, SC (formerly known as Gopher Hill). While visiting the Morris Center for Lowcountry Heritage they can complete activities that not only allow students to better understand this battle, but become familiar with the terminology used during the Civil War and other events. After this study, they will be able to lead discussions of things they observed during their visit of the museum’s 3D exhibit of the Battle Honey Hill and compare the differences and similarities of the military during the Civil War and our military today.
