Basketry
Sweetgrass baskets have been made in Charleston and along the coast for more than 300 years. Slaves from West Africa brought this art with them and have passed the tradition on from generation to generation.
Pottery

The Edgefield region of South Carolina was known for making stoneware pottery. David Drake, or Dave the Potter, was a slave in the region who wrote poems on some of his works, despite it being illegal to teach slaves to read and write.
